Happy Summer! Hope it's going well! I have also retired...with very mixed emotions. For the time being, I will continue to maintain this site as a resource for teachers, students, and parents. I'll keep you posted to any changes.

June's Peirce Pride word of the month is EXCELLENCE. Peirce Pride Excellence means being the best you can be!! I think our new Peirce School motto, Strive to Shine, as a Student, as a Friend speaks a lot to this attribute. June is a great time for reflection for all of us. Have you worked your hardest? Did you try your best? If the answer is yes, pat yourself on the back. If not, make it your goal for next year.

May's Peirce Pride word of the month is COOPERATION. What does it mean to you? How can you be more cooperative at school? How can you be more cooperative at home? Cooperation makes life a lot happier!

April's Peirce Pride word of the month is RESPONSIBILITY! What are your responsibilities? Taking the census AND taking care of our home, the Earth, are two of them. Don't forget Earth Day is April 22nd!

March's Peirce Pride word of the month is INTEGRITY, and second grade is in charge! There will be a special assembly featuring Rep. Garballey, at which the second grade will sing their "Integrity" song - how exciting is that!

February's Peirce Pride word of the month is EFFORT. A wonderful example of effort is the Olympics. You can learn about the 2010 Winter Olympics here.

January's Peirce Pride word of the month is PERSEVERANCE. What is it? Who shows it? Do you have it? These will be questions we will explore. In Science we will also be exploring the world of Balancing and Weighing. Do you know what a fulcrum is? Learn more on our Balancing and Weighing page in the Pull-down Menu below.

December is a month filled with conferences and "visions of sugarplums" dancing in children's heads. It will bring our very special "In-school Nutcracker Field Trip" and the decorating of our "Night Tree" - we'll also be asking parents to share their family traditions with us. It should be an exciting month!

November will bring lots of Social Studies learning as we explore the world of the Pilgrims and Wampanoag people. Our play "The Pilgrim Story" will help to bring history to life. Hope to see lots of families at the PTO's Silent Auction, too.

It was great to see almost all of our families at Open House last week! We're looking forward to celebrating Lady Liberty's birthday on October 28th with our Reader's Theater for the K-2 students. Be sure to practice your part at home!
