Life Cycle of the Butterfly Project
due Monday, June 12th
You have been involved with an exciting Science unit - The Life Cycle of the Butterfly. On the above date it will be time to share what youve learned.
You will choose a project from the list below to present to the class. Your project must include the following:
- Each of the four stages of the Painted Lady butterflys life cycle.
- You must explain what happens in each of these stages.
- You must use the following vocabulary in your project - egg, larva, pupa, adult, metamorphosis
- You must also include at least five MORE of the vocabulary words from your Butterfly Vocabulary page (see back). Also online at http://msjacoby.com/butvocab.html

Remember, no matter which project you choose, the above requirements must be met. Have fun!

3D model - make a model of each stage using any material you like (clay, legos, etc.) - each stage will need a card with explanations, or presenter will need to tell about each stage, using vocabulary outlined above
Short report - write a report about the Life Cycle of the Painted Lady
Journal - pretend you are a painted lady egg about to emerge - write journal entries explaining each stage of your life
Poem - create one poem about the entire life cycle, or a series of poems (such as haiku) about each stage
Painting or Drawing (in watercolors or markers, with a title and construction paper frame)
Song - make up a song (sung to a well-known tune) that will tell about the Life Cycle of the Painted Lady
Board Game create a Board Game that explains the life cycle and incorporates the required vocabulary (for 2 to 4 players)
Computer Project (any presentation about the life cycle of the painted lady composed on the computer)
Play Teacher - present a lesson to the class (the plans for the lesson must have a written description)
Skit with 2 friends create a skit (short play) about the Life Cycle of the Painted Lady Butterfly to present to the class
A Dance - create a dance about the Life Cycle of the Painted Lady Butterfly to present to the class. An oral or written piece must be included explaining how the dance represents each part of the life cycle.
